The most frequent tyre damage is due to a gradual loss of pressure which is often noticed too late by the driver. Too low tyre pressure also leads to increased fuel consumption and poor handling. This is also associated with an increase in tyre temperature and greater wear. As a result of insufficient tyre pressure the tyre can suddenly burst. This poses an enormous safety risk for all occupants. Therefore tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) have been mandatory for all new vehicles in the EU since November 2014. HELLA offers a reliable and high-quality safety product with the battery-powered tyre pressure monitoring sensors. They are mounted directly in the respective wheel of the vehicle and measure the temperature as well as the pressure of the tyre. The measured value of the tyre pressure is transmitted by radio to the tyre pressure control unit. This emits an optical/acoustic warning message via the display unit in the event of a registered pressure loss.
