Oil filters should be changed as per your manufacturer service schedule. Oil filters refine the oil in your vehicle before it is passed through all major components such as your engine and turbo charger if your vehicle has one.
Over time both your oil and oil filter will need changed. Your filter is continuously removing particles such as dirt and dust before it enters your engine, and as such will become clogged and less efficient.
